SOS Children's Villages have a motto, that "every child should grow with a stable family". Their work around the world focuses on establishing and protecting the rights of children. The very core of their orgnisation is the United Nations Convention on Human Rights.
In Bolivia, the organisation works to reunite broken families. If this is not possible, they seek to provide safe accommodation for the children of such families in an effort to ensure their future. Broken and troubled families are common in Potosi, where the dangerous mines take the lives of many at a young age. Working at the mines can often take children away from school too. SOS Children's Villages works to make sure that the children of mining families are protected and have a future to look forward to.
The organisation always needs volunteers to help with a wide range of projects. More information and the details for signing up can be found on their website. In Potosi, they can be contacted through Koala Tours.
