A popular weekend and school vacation destination for Bolivians, Rio Selva Santa Cruz is a 5 star resort located just 20 minutes from Santa Cruz, in the locality of Warnes.
The 10 acre complex is beautifully designed, with gorgeous tropical gardens and all of the amenities of a modern resort. Guests can enjoy relaxing around the luxurious sized swimming pool as well as in the sauna and jacuzzi. There is a range of sporting activities on offer including beach and pool volleyball, basketball, tennis and football. Their on-site games room features bowling and kareoke and turns into a discoteque in the evenings. The on-site restaurant features a traditional clay oven and serves a breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet of local dishes.
They offer three types of accommodation by way of family sized cabins, private suites and smaller studios, all set within stunning tropical gardens. The cabins can house up to 6 people and feature 3 bedrooms, a private bathroom, an ensuite with the master bedroom, living area and kitchen. Whereas the studios can sleep up to 4 people with 2 double beds, private bathroom, a small living area and kitchenette. There are two types of suites, sleeping either up to 2 or 4 people. They are also equipped with a living area, kitchenette and private bathroom.
Accommodation is booked by way of 2 to 10 day packages that include lodging, all meals and access to the public areas. The resort particularly targets students with a specially designed package featuring a wide range of activities including excursions to a water park and the cinema, competitions for "Mr and Miss River Forest", kareoke and bowling evenings, mountain biking and extreme sports competitions. There is also a honeymoon package available which can be used in conjunction with the resort´s indoor and outdoor banquetting halls that are popular for hosting wedding receptions. The resort also caters for company special events and executive retreats, and has a number of conference rooms on-site.
Whilst it is promoted as being a tranquil holiday destination, owing to its beautiful natural surroundings and gorgeous resort set-up, Rio Selva Santa Cruz can get quite crowded and noisy at times with visiting student and company groups. It is part of a group of resorts and has two sister resorts near La Paz, both with the same party-resort reputation.
Rio Selva is classed as a 5 star hotel however it is important to remember that this is measured according to Bolivian standards and you may experience a different level of service than what you would expect of a 5 star hotel in Europe or the USA.
