Las Siete Cascadas (Dep. Chuquisaca)
- Sucre
- Sights
- Sights of the surroundings
To spend a day outside the city, "Las Siete Cascadas" is a nice place to enjoy the nature, hiking in the mountains, take a bath and a sunbath.
Taking the bus from Sucre you reach the small village of Chaupi K’atalla (8kms from Sucre). Here you start the hike of around 3 km, walking down the road between the mountains until you reach a small bridge crossing the river. If the water level in the river is low you can walk along the river bank until you reach the first waterfall. This walk is a bit exhausting as you need to climb some rocks sometimes to avoid the water but the views from the river are very beautiful.
The other option is to cross the bridge and follow the road to a small path at your left. Following the path it will guide you to the waterfalls.
The waterfalls themselves arent´t very spectacular, besides that you can only reach the first three of them as you wold need climbing equipment to reach the others. But there are natural swimming wholes where you can take a refreshing bath and stay a while to relax. (For lodging see: Hacienda Siete Cascadas)
