The Hotel Palacio de Sal is “The first salt hotel in the world”! We invite you to experience one of the world’s most exotic hotels found in a natural, magical and wonderful setting. Situated just 25 km from the city of Uyuni in Bolivia, on the banks of the majestic Salar de Uyuni, you will find the Palacio de Sal (The Salt Palace). Its uniqueness arises from fact that it is entirely built from salt. Floors, roofs, walls, furniture, sculptures and everything in between are made of salt. A hotel in harmony with nature and its surrounding scenery will let enjoy a pleasant and unforgettable stay with all the comforts expected from a modern hotel. Our 30 rooms (21 twin bedrooms and 9 double bedrooms) share a resemblance to igloos made from salt and have their own private bathroom, hot and cold water and central heating and/or electric heaters. The hotel has its own restaurant, “El Mesón”, a Bar, a game room, complimentary Wifi, and a viewing deck with a stunning 360 degree view, as well as a boutique offering various textile products.

Sights of the region

With 10,582 square kilometeres and 3,656 metres above sea level, the Salar de Uyuni is the largest salt flat in the world. This vast, flat land of pure white salt combines with multi-coloured lagoons, volcanic mountains, tree-like rocks and towering islands of coral to create one of the most unique and bizarre landscapes in the world.
Some of the sights within the region include: The Train Cemetry of Uyuni; Incahuasi Island in the Salar; Ojos de Salar; and the Eduardo Avaroa Nature Reserve, which contains a number of lagoons of bright red, yellow, green and white water, coloured by virture of their mineral content. Also found in the nature reserve are geyser, the Lincacabur volcano and the breeding grounds of 3 of the worlds 6 species of flamingo.
